Monday morning, legacy food companies The Hershey Company and Campbell Soup each announced deals to purchase smaller food brands: Hershey is spending $1.6 billion on Skinny Pops owner Amplify Brands, and Campbell Soup is shelling out $4.9 billion on pretzel and chip maker Snyder's-Lance .
